Two Gates has strong views of the environment and importance of organic production. It was decided in 2001 to develop an organically cultivated vineyard to produce premium quality red wines.
The intention has been to create an enterprise that is small and boutique in specialisation and to aspire to the highest quality organic production. With two entry gates to the property, it was appropriate to adopt Two Gates as the brand mark and name of the vineyard.
Since planting in 2001, the company has invested significant resources (time, hard work and money) to achieve its BioGro New Zealand Certified status. Over time it has become clear that this hard work has paid off and that the quality of the grapes being produced is supreme.
The company aspires to produce premium organic wines under the Two Gates label. Initial harvests engaged the sale of grapes. Following a fantastic growing season leading up to the 2007 harvest, winemaker Tony Prichard joined the team and our first Two Gates organic wines were created.
