Esk Valley is considered one of New Zealand's top red winemakers. Esk Valley's reds are Merlot based and their flagship wine, "The Terraces" is a blend of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. This wine is only produced in exceptional years. The Esk Valley Reserve Merlot-based red is one of New Zealand's top show performers with a tally of gold medals and trophies. Esk Valley also produces high quality white wines, notably their Reserve Chardonnay and their Black Label Chenin Blanc. The less expensive Black Label range also includes Merlot, Merlot Rose, Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling.
