Blake Family Vineyard was established in 2000 with the sole aim of creating a world class single vineyard Bordeaux-style red wine from the premium stoney soil in Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Each vintage we select only the best of what the vineyard offers to create this limited release wine. In the vineyard we practice severe pruning, careful deleafing, and crop thinning to achieve lilliputian yields, which results in fruit of extraordinary intensity. We then hand-harvest and vinify each variety separately, to evaluate the characteristics of each individual lot, while it is still in the barrel. We select only the best barrels to create the final blend of our proprietary 125 Gimblett Road red wine.
